Chinese in Manila

Almost every country has their own version of Chinatown and the same as little India.  Why? Because these two race has a lot of expat in different country. It all started during the old civilization when they are trading their products until they decided to settled in the country because they think they are doing a good business there. Then Chinatown started. So as little India.

In Manila, Filipino-Chinese are the people who are doing good business these days.  Most of the big corporation in the Philippines are owned by Filipino-Chinese  businessmen.

Mc Donald

Mc Donald breakfast value meal for sure is the most affordable meal that you can have to eat when you go to Dubai Mall. Like what I have now is cheap for just 10 aed I have 1 sausage mc muffin value meal.

I have only 50 aed in my wallet, I don't even have money on my ATM. I am trying to keep this money until the distribution of the TIPS, and the salary on the 30th. Now I have just 40 aed.

In the Philippines, Mc Donald is not the most affordable food you can have  when you go to the mall. The same in Thailand and in Hongkong, there are always cheap and good food that surely make you full and satisfied.

Softdrinks is not available

When I was young softdrinks is already available in some mini shop in our place. But it was very expensive for us to buy because we are poor. We eat normal three times a day because most of our food are fresh from the farm, but we do not have money to buy stuffs from the shops.

We only had a a chance to drink softdrinks when we are invited in a party. softdrinks is not always available in the mini shop in our place as its normally comes from the city and delivery guy are coming like 2 times a week.

Only big shops can afford refrigerator so most of the time we drink this softdrinks with its normal room temperature.

Anyway those are the story from my fast, and those are funny to remember.
This bottle of softdrinks are cute anyway.

Life is good

I was on my way going to the beach Jumeira Beach Resort when I saw this car having this extra wheel behind the car saying "LIFE IS GOOD".

It catch my attention because this is the way I want other people to think about. Life is amazing that God gave us to take care to enjoy to enhance and to be a model to others.

45 minutes to enjoy

Today i made a mistake.
I woke up around 5 o clock in the morning and prepare myself, catch the bus at 7 am and be at work at 8 am. I was sleeping in the bus leaning my head on the window, and until now i have stiff neck.

When I get to the Hotel I checked my schedule and I was surprised that I should come at 11 and not at 8. immidiately I decided to go back home, catch the 8:30 bus and it came late almost 9 oclock. I reach home and I enjoy the 45 minutes at home, alone and worry free, not sleepy and relax.

I made a coffee,  i open the window and this is the first time that  I see the beauty outside of my window, Remember I am new in this room, normally this window is always closed. I didn't open the computer because we do not have internet access, we forget to pay our dues. Now is okay its paid. I lay on the bed a little bit, i set beside the window a little bit, I read a little bit. I enjoy.

9:50 I made myself ready because I need to catch the bus at 10:00 to be able to get to work at 11:00,  From our accommodation to the hotel travelling time is around 30 minutes. It was really good.

I never felt this feeling when I am day off. Life is good always.

Breakfast, lunch and maybe my dinner too.

Yesterday I was very busy, our HR office gives me a task to do a a video that is going to present on our coming annual party. Because of this I was very tired. I work in the morning and then after work we do the video shooting in all the Hotel departments. And when I get home I started to edit the video.
And today I feel exhausted but still I need to work hard for it.

Finally I have this power gold energy drink and cheese and tomato sandwich as my breakfast, my lunch and maybe the dinner too.

Noisy washing machine.

This washing machine is very noisy. This is why I usually washed my clothes when I about to go to work so that I don't need to wait and not to hear this noisy washing machine. It was a big help.

When I was studying in Manila there is no washing machine in the bording house where I lived. I usually washed my clothes specially my uniforms by my hands every other day because I have only two uniforms in college. Washing clothes is very difficult, for sure most of the people these days didn't experience washing their clothes specially the young generation. Washing clothes those days takes a whole day include drying.

These days life is easy, very easy, This washing machine is a big help. I just need to put my dirty clothes inside, turn on the washing machine and then after 1 hour or two my clothes are done. Ready to wear.

This noisy thing is not a big deal. Life is Good.

A lot of shoes, not lot of space.

When I moved to my new apartment studio type, these shoes of my new toom mate are the first stuffs that catches my attention, the first thing comes in to my mind is where to put my shoes now? Maybe on the other side? But there is a painting that he is working on.

In my previous apartment there is a small room like a storage where we normally put the boxes, cleaning materials and our shoes. And now in my new apartment there is no room for storing those stuff. We have just a closet and kitchen cabinets.
I also have 8 pair of shoes but only two of them are mostly used and the rest are occasionally used.
I maybe going to buy a shoe rack, honestly as much as possible I don't want to buy anymore stuff because I am planning to move to another country. Or maybe I'll just keep my shoes in the plastic bag like that in the picture.

Don't forget.... LIfe is good.

Too much coffe, less sleep.

I felt that I don't have enough sleep last night, I thought that coffee is not really affecting my hour and way of sleeping. Normally I sleep straight not more than 4 hours. But last night I felt that I am waking up every 10 minutes. It was really bad because for sure it will be my problem in the morning.

If the kitchen is busy today that would be fine because I am not going to be sleepy, because I need to work and will never feel this sleepy feeling that I have now. If not, good luck to me.

Yesterday was my day off, as usual I had my lunch at Chowking, sent and change the router from the shop, walk a little bit at battuta mall. Around 4pm when I get home, I setup the router, clean a little bit and then I drink a cup of coffee while browsing the web, Facebook and blogging. I went to cafeteria to eat before 9pm. When I get back home I again make a cup of coffee, when I about to finish my coffee my friend downstairs called me to go there, and there he makes a coffee for me.
Total I had 3 cups of coffee, this is why I do not have enough sleep.

Why we like our own race?

The company where I am working now has the policy of giving room to their staffs according to their grade and positions. An ordinary employee like waiters, room attendants belongs to the grade 1 and 2 normally 4 people are together in one bedroom apartment, Supervisors are grade 3 and 2 people are together in a studio type accommodation. You can imagine the accommodation of the General Manager.

Because I was promoted just 2 weeks ago I was forced to move to a new room. When I get the promotion, I was worried that I a moving to a new room, to the room that I do not know who will be my room mate. I prefer the same nationality and the same relegion. and the rest like attitude, habit are not a big deal for me. I am a Pinoy and I prefer to live with the same Pinoy, Why? the same like you, you like your own race. Just to let you know our company has more than 50 nationalities working together, and living in one community.

The Nationality. I sometimes become racist because of the smell and or attitudes of some people.
you cannot avoid not to smell those people because they are working with you and they are everywhere.
Not all of them but most of them. What if you are living with them? maybe its fine if you have the same smell, maybe you'll get to used to their smell after a couple of days. For me I do not want to get to used to it.

The Relegion. Relegion is a big factor because with the relegion, we have different belief and different opinion when it comes to believing in God. As we all know nobody wins in a debate when it comes to relegion. Pork, Beef are  also some of the food that we cannot cook and eat in a room that has different relegion, for sure you're going to offend one of them if you cook the food that is forbidden for them. and eating this food for me are difficult to avoid.

Health Condition. Well the company are taking care of our health. They making sure that all of us are in good condition and no contagious or infectious desease. Mental health problem will be the problem but we never know when it will come to some people. If this is a case its a big problem for our safety.

We may become get to used to their smell and we can avoid to eat the food that is not allowed for them, With this we can live with them but for sure we will not be happy like when we are with our own race and the same relegion.

Factor like attitude, habit etc..are not a big deal for me because the company has a rules and regulation that are controlling the bad attitude and the bad habit. One common example are smoking and getting drunk. The company do not allowed the staff to smoke inside the room, and becoming drunk is forbidden in public. Breaking those rules for sure will make the work and life complicated.

The good thing is I am now in a new room with my new room mate, the same race the same relegion. Attitude......I do not know yet.

New room mate.

Because I am living in a company accommodation we do not have much control on the people that we are going to live with. I live in a shared room with four people.

When we are new in this company, the four of us, my friends decided and insist to the staff housing manager to stay together because we knew each other and we are the same nationality and the same religion. We are happy, we make noise we enjoy life. As much as possible we do not want to have any other nationality to be in our room because it will lost our freedom to do things that we used to do.

But of course its not always possible that we can stay always together. One of my friend decided to work in Cruise ship because he thinks he can save  and get more money by working in a cruise ship. Now he resigned. We tried to find someone we know that can be our new room mate but we are late because the day after my friend left the new european guy arrive. This guy from europe is 19 years old and I think he is not matured enough to live far away from his parents, there are time we see him crying in front of the web cam, he speaks so loud, and one thing I noticed he did't take a good bath. This guy he resigned and went back to europe because he missed his girlfriend and family.

Then we have our friend transffered  in our room.

In the past few days we have a problem because two of our friends got a promotion and they are required to move in a single room, a not sharing room. It means that two beds are going to be vacant and for sure new guys are coming to fill those bed. We ask one of our friend to move to our room and he did but then there is one more bed vacant. We didn't find anymore because our other friends are on vacation and the others are not allowed because there is a limit of how many times a staff can move to another room.

And so today when we arrived to our room there is a new guy next to my bed. He is sleeping this time so we do not know him. He looks like arabic maybe coming from Syria, Morrocco, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, we do not know.
If he is Arabic, 99%  he is a muslem. It means we cannot cook any pork meat in our apartment.

I just hope there will be no problem or any conflict  will occur during the time we are living in the same room.
I hope this guy do not smoke.
I hope this guy is not stinky.
I hope this guy is a good guy.

According to skyscanner.com survey from its users, France and some countries in europe are the rudest place for traveler in the world. These include Russia and UK. They say that people here are particularly not friendly and never smile.

The other reason they say is the languages that comes to the travelers are not so polite. this is because counties like Russia where english is not a first languages and when they speak english is not so polite.

How to re-install Windows 7

It comes to a point that my Toshiba is working very slowly, that I can make a cup of coffee, go to pee before it awitch on. Because of this I decided to make my computer like new again by re-installing my windows 7 64 bit.

It takes time for me to figure out how to install windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite L 505. I searched on the net on how to do those re-installing, each brand of computer has their own way of re-installing windows on their computer.

Normally you just need to insert the Windows CD and run it and the rest are follow the instructions. But with Toshiba their way is different and I have it here.

Good thing I still have the manuals and from there I read and follow the instructions. When we first use our Toshiba we ask to make a recovery CD and I did that.

Here is how to re-install Windows 7

1. Insert the first recovery CD that you made into the drive. ( for me, I have 2 CD) and shutdown the computer.
2. Turn on your computer while keeping the F12 key pressed to open the setup menu.
3. Use the cursor keys to select the optical disk drive (CD/DVD drives) on the menu.
4. Follow the instruction that are appearing on the screen.
5. Within 30 minutes your Toshiba is like new again.

When I bought my Toshiba it comes with pre-installed 64 bit windows 7 and it has no CD of it.
It also comes with a recovery CD of 32 bit windows 7.
64 bit windows 7 can perform a lot better than 32 bit specially in multitasking proccess like when you are running a lot of applications at the same time.

I don't need a car

Isn't its nice that I am just sitting here inside this bus going to work, relaxing and enjoying the view of the big highway of Sheik Sayed road.

I do not need a car.

This is one of the benefits of working here in the middle east, most of the company are providing a transportation. You'll just need to catch the bus and you have nothing to worry of coming late.

Working without saving

There are lots of people who are spending more than what they are earning. And to tell you honestly I was once one of them.

It is very difficult to live having the salary that is just enough to support yourself or your family for the whole month. It means that you have no freedom to buy another thing.

Then those people who have more salary are sometimes do not have controls with their spending. They are telling that they cannot please themselves but to buy new stuffs.

In my case, now that I have those things I think that are essential, I started to save and I feel good about it. When I started to work abroad it gives me freedom to buy the things that I want. Laptop, smartphone, guitar, electronic keyboard, etc. now that I have those, I have nothing else to buy therefore my salary are now going directly to the bank.

Filipino Talent

I love music,  more than that I love talents and the most I like the people who are not afraid to show their talents. To be honest, because I am a shy person I am envy of those people who are not so good looking but are beleieving with their talents.

Me, being Filipino makes me feel good that there are so many Filipino's I mean Half Filipinos are making it big to the International music, movies, sports scene. I know there are lot's of Filipinos who feel the same. If you notice to see a competetion like american Idol and we found that there is a contestant that is looks like asian or hispanic, Filipino people will try to check if he or she is a Filipino, and if they found that its a Filipino or has Filpino blood for sure they're  going  to share a link on their facebook for example.

Today I was watching american Idol, I learned that Jessica Sanchez one of the final 24 for this season of American Idol is half Filipino.

Here is the talents.

How are you? (do you really mean it when you say it?)

When I was in the Philippines I rarely hear the english word "how are you?" not because its not our languages. I mean "hi or hello" are most common in greeting people we see or met on the day,  We normally say hi or hello on the people we met anywhere for the first time, and for the first time of the day normally the people we are working with, like office mates etc.

We have " kamusta ka? " from the spanish word (como esta) the Tagalog or Filipino translation of "How ar you?"  We normally ask "kumusta " to our friend and or to people we did not see for a couple of times or for the people we met for the first time and we are interested to have a conversation with them. I mean kumusta is really a sincere word of asking How are you in my country. The answer is mabuti which is "good" in english. or sometimes they will answer "okay lang, in english "just okay" and if not good ussually they tell directly the story, the same as good they directly thell the story.

For most english speaking people "how are you is the best way of greeting people". I do not know the real explanation, I didn't check. Based on my observation english speaking people normally say "how are you" when they greet people, doesn't matter if they are sincere or concern or no or what. And of course the answer is normally good, I'm fine, no good, so so. etc. For some people just to have something to say they say I'm good but for those people who have to express more they will say "no" and you will be lucky if  they are interested to listen.

We have to understand that "how are you" is a greeting in general. But depends on the person who say it, we can say that they are sincere when they ask how are you? You can see it on the expression of their face when they say it.

Mc Donald's Quarter Pounder "my first time"

To be honest, this is my first time to eat a quarter pounder meal of Mc Donalds. I am not a big fan of burger so its not a big deal for me.

When I was in the Philippines I always eat in a fastfood like Mc Donalds, Jollibee and Chowking but i never give a chance to eat those popular Burger because for me those are very expensive, I only eat the value meal which are  80% cheap than those burger, when I do  not have budget I eat in a Carenderia or Turo-turo.

I was working before in a restaurant as a service crew. My salary is just enough to pay for my space, for my daily food and for my transportation going to work and to school because I was also studying that time.

Here in Dubai, well I can afford now to eat those food that I cannot in the Philippines like this Quarter Pounder. In Dubai quarter pounder meal is only 17 AED, around 4 to 5 US dollar and around 200Php  in the Philippines. If i convert it, its still expensive.

Straciatella Cheese

At first it's looks like a buko salad, because it's looks like a segments of baby coconut covered of milk but then when I tasted it I learned that it's a kind of soft cheese called stracciatella.

Stracciatella cheese is soft cheese made from cows and buffalo milk. The same proccess like buffalo mozzarella only the texture are different as buffalo mozzarella is round and has shape while straciatella is like a creamy and soft segments.

Straciatella normally found inside the Burrata, Burrata is a mozzarella cheese with starciatella filling.
All these cheeses are best served with slice tomato and rocket salad.

Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can. There will always come a time when you will be greatful you did.

 Sarah Caldwell

When we achieved something we always reward or cheer our self for what we have done. Its a feeling that is very good, like we telling a big " WOW! I did it" to our self, and at this moment we will remember those things in the fast that we've learned,

We should give importance to everything, to everyone because for sure we can learn even a small thing from them.

Some People dream of success while others wake up and work hard at it.

"Some people dream of success while others wake up and work hard at it"

It means that if we want to achieve something we have to work and try our best to achieved it.
Other people are just thinking of their success in the future that is close to imposible to happen.

Everybody for sure are dreaming of something for their life. something simple, big and some are impossible. These goals that we want to achieve required us to be focus and keep on doing things that are related for the goal. We know along the way there are some hindrances that will give us hard times in reaching our goal. This hindrances for sure will let us to decide wether we will keep on going or we will give up. We know that once we give up we are delaying in reaching our goal and much worst we will never realize our goal.
People who never gave up are soon to realized their goal and people who are keep on dreaming of their goal will keep on dreaming and maybe they change their dream... in the end they achieved nothing.
